CWNE Roundtable

The CWNE certification - both the rigorous experiential requirements and the exam itself - are the products of months of research and input from hundreds of CWNP certified professionals and WLAN industry experts. The capstone of all this work is the creation of the CWNE Roundtable, which consists of 10 IT professionals who earned their CWNE certification by first achieving the "triple crown" of CWNA, CWSP, and CWAP, and then successfully completing all the necessary criteria for the CWNE application.

These 10 individuals met in Atlanta, GA, at the inaugural meeting of the CWNE roundtable to finalize the new requirements for the CWNE certification and to put the CWNE exam pool items through an accelerated, open discussion, beta period. Over the course of 4 days, these 10 CWNEs took the entire CWNE exam pool - hundreds of questions - and then discussed each question in depth to determine its accuracy, psychometric quality, and relevance. In other words, they decided "does a CWNE need to know this to do the job?" The result is the CWNE exam that is now available at all Prometric and VUE testing centers as PW0-300.

In the future, the CWNE roundtable will do such things as create and authorize material for CWNE exam preparation, create white papers to explain the newer or more obscure technologies in the 802.11 sector, and determine if and when the requirements for becoming a CWNE should change.

The CWNE roundtable is made up of the following individuals:

  • Devin Akin - CWNP
  • Criss Hyde - Raytheon
  • Joel Barrett - Cisco Systems, Inc.
  • Rick Murphy - vLogic, Inc.
  • David Coleman - AirSPy Training

  • Keith Parsons - Institute for Network Professionals
  • Troy McMillan - Kaplan IT
